Gift protection
A prepaid code can be bought anywhere in the world and redeemed wherever you are. You buy it, your people use it. No names, no cards from whoever redeems it.
Your subscription pays for development, maintenance, and the servers, and sustains the sponsored access program. Can't pay? If you're a journalist, an activist, or simply can't afford it, the program is for you.
Limits
What a VPN can't do
A VPN hides your traffic from your internet provider and the local network, and hides your IP from the sites you visit. It does not make you anonymous. It doesn't protect a seized phone. It doesn't unpublish what you post under your name. If your safety depends on it, use Tor as well and get specialized advice. What it protects and what it doesn't, in detail.

Questions, answered
How do I use Tocoro VPN on another device?
Open the app on your current device, go to Account and show the QR code. On the new device pick "I already have an account" and scan it — or type your account number.
What if I lose my account number?
If you added a recovery email, you can recover it from the app. If not, we can't give it back — we don't know which account is yours, and that's exactly the design. Keep your number somewhere safe; the worst you can lose is the subscription time left on it.
Why isn't it on Google Play?
We distribute directly: no store accounts, no waiting for approvals, and the app updates itself, verifying every release. You can also share the installer phone-to-phone, with no internet. Store releases are on their way.
Where are the servers?
Today: Miami (USA), Mexico City (Mexico), and Madrid (Spain) — you pick in the app. We'd rather run a few real, fast servers than show a fake 90-country map. More locations as demand grows.
Does Tocoro VPN block ads?
Only if you turn it on: the app has a "Block ads" switch, off by default. With it on, your device rejects DNS lookups for domains on the oisd blocklist (50,000+ domains: ad networks and the endpoints trackers report to) before any connection is made. The list is applied on your device, so no server of ours sees which lookups get blocked, and the exact list we serve is public at /api/ruleset/ads.
Can I pay without leaving a trace?
Yes: with a prepaid code. Codes are bearer instruments — whoever redeems one gives no name, email, or card. If you pay by card or QvaPay yourself, the processor knows your payment details (never your activity) and we keep the payment linked to the account it credited — for zero trace, have someone else buy the code.
